A London court sentenced a 19-year-old Norwegian man to 20 years in prison on Friday for planning an assassination on behalf of the Swedish criminal network Foxtrot, which British authorities link to the Iranian regime.
The sentence comes one day after Germany convicted two men of spying for Tehran and plotting attacks against Jewish leaders, a pattern that confirms Iran's use of Europe as a stage for intimidation and terrorism.
Hitman recruited for 25,000 euros
Johannes Kongsnes Natland agreed to accept 25,000 euros (about $27,000) in March 2025 to shoot a person whose identity he did not even know. He was arrested two days after arriving in the United Kingdom with a semi-automatic pistol, a revolver and ammunition hidden under his bed in an English hotel.

In late July, a jury at the Old Bailey in London found the young man guilty of conspiracy to commit murder. According to AFP, the defendant maintained that he never intended to kill anyone and that he planned to "shoot himself in the foot" to escape retaliation from the network without actually carrying out the contract.
Judge Bobbie Cheema-Grubb emphasized to the young man that he "agreed to be the enforcer and pursued it, despite numerous opportunities to extricate yourself." Foxtrot and its leader, Rawa Majid, are subject to sanctions in the United Kingdom for allegedly carrying out destabilizing activities on behalf of Iran.
Germany: Espionage and attacks against Jewish leaders
According to the Federal Prosecutor's Office, the main defendant received direct instructions from the Quds Force, the foreign arm of the Iranian Revolutionary Guard, and planned an arson attack against a kosher store in Berlin. The court concluded that these were "terrorist activities orchestrated by Iran" on German soil.
