Democratic New York City Councilman refutes Mayorkas: the border is open
Robert Holden also complained about the lack of solutions from the government. "Joe Biden is asleep at the wheel," he said.
Democratic New York City Councilman Robert Holden criticized Joe Biden’s lack of an immigration plan and the mismanagement of Department of Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas.
In a recent interview with host Laura Ingraham, Holden was very upset with the entire Biden Administration due to the number of current problems with immigrants in New York City and the lack of solutions.
“We haven’t heard a plan. It’s absurd, just let in 100,000 migrants, foreign nationals, unvetted foreign nationals to New York City and say, here, take them,” he said.
Holden explained that the city will now have to spend about $8 million a day because of the poor decisions that have been made. “And again, we haven’t heard a plan from this administration. Joe Biden is asleep at the wheel. The whole administration is,” he insisted.
Following the councilman’s opinion, the presenter referred to Secretary Mayorkas and some of the statements he recently gave before the House Judiciary Committee.
“(Mayorkas) said they’re managing the border with the resources that they have and that the border, sir, is not open and that those who are saying the border is open are not telling the truth,” Ingraham commented followed by the question “What is your response to him?”
Holden responded that he did not consider what he said to be true. He even finds it “absurd” to say there is a border when there is clearly a problem of illegal immigration.
“He’s lying. We have 100,000 people in New York City that walked across unvetted. How is that a border? How is that secure? Nobody can figure it out. This is absurd. I mean, we have our eyes here looking at this outside the Hotel Roosevelt. Look at that. Does that make any sense whatsoever that this border is secure?” he said.
Mayorkas’ statements
The Secretary of Homeland Security was recently called to testify about the bad policies implemented at the southern border. However, Mayorkas attempted to defend his administration by assuring that, although his immigration system is “fundamentally flawed, it is working.”
The secretary insisted that there has been a decrease in illegal entries, but the Republicans stressed that despite trying to paint “a rosy picture,” the “disastrous mismanagement” is evident.
