Kevin Costner poses with T-shirt in support of Liz Cheney
The actor shows his adherence to the anti-Trump Republican with a photo spread on social media.
Famed filmmaker Kevin Costner, has endorsed the re-election of Representative Liz Cheney in the Republican primary for Wyoming's House of Representatives seat on August 16. Cotsner, a well-known supporter of the Democratic Party, caused a furor on social networks by appearing in a photograph smiling and posing with a T-shirt that reads "I'm for Liz Cheney".
Cheney herself took it upon herself to proudly post the photograph on Twitter with an emotional message that reads, "Real men put country over party."
Cheney is against former President Donald Trump for the events of Jan. 6, 2021, on Capitol Hill. Since that time he has become one of the most critical voices of Trump in the Republican Party. His critical stance with his own party means that he has the support of many Democrats. He is currently in a tough fight against Harriet Hageman, a candidate supported by Donald Trump.
Costner's political views
Costner early in his life considered himself a Republican, but since the 1990s he has supported the Democrats. In the last election, he declared himself to be a loyal supporter of Joe Biden.
"I think we really have to have a president for both sides, and for people who don't vote for Biden. If Biden wins, he needs to address what they're concerned about. I think he has that level of bandwidth to understand that the group that doesn't vote for him needs attention. They have their own concerns and we need to think about that." He said in a 2020 interview with Variety.
In another interview with The Daily Beast, Costner confessed to going back and forth between parties and feeling represented by ideas from both sides:
"The Democratic Party doesn't represent everything I think, and neither does the Republican Party right now, at all. So I find it too limiting".
