La temporada de premios continúa. Si el martes 10 de enero, los Globos de Oro repartían sus codiciadas estatuillas, el domingo 15 de enero llegaba el turno de los Critics Choice Awards que se celebraron en el hotel Fairmont Century Plaza de Los Ángeles. Con una alfombra roja a la que acudieron más celebridades que en los Globos de Oro, los Critics Choice Awards se mantuvieron en la línea de los primeros ganadores que había entregado la Asociación de la Prensa Extranjera de Hollywood y no dieron demasiadas sorpresas.
Categorías cinematográficas
La ceremonia, otorgada por la Asociación de Críticos de Retransmisiones Cinematográficas de Estados Unidos y Canadá, sirvió para que la película Everything Everywhere All At Once tomase la delantera en la carrera por los Óscars. El filme obtuvo cinco de los catorce premios a los que optaba en los Critics Choice Awards, entre el que se incluye el de Mejor película.
El toque hispano lo puso Guillermo del Toro que repitió triunfo a Mejor película de animación por la versión que hizo junto a Netflix de Pinocchio. Además, Brendan Freser logró el premio que no le otorgaron los Globos de Oro a Mejor actor mientras que Glass Onion: A Knives Out Mystery acabó la noche con dos premios en su palmarés.

Junto con los Globos de Oro, los Critics Choice Awards son una de las pocas ceremonias que reconoce que la hermana pequeña del cine, la televisión, merece algo más y le otorgan casi tanta importancia como los largometrajes.
En lo que a series y películas televisivas se refiere, Better Call Saul dio la sorpresa al arrebatarle a House of the Dragon el premio a Mejor serie dramática mientras que Bob Odenkirk se alzó como Mejor actor por el papel que interpreta en la sexta temporada de Better Call Saul. Abbott Elementary repitió triunfo y, al igual que sucedió en la gala de la Asociación de la Prensa Extranjera de Hollywood, obtuvo varias victorias destacables.
