Country singer Toby Keith dies at 62

The artist announced 18 months ago that he was diagnosed with stomach cancer.

Country singer Toby Keith died this Monday at the age of 62. His agent announced the news was announced early this Tuesday on his social media accounts. He announced that the artist known for his song "Should've Been a Cowboy" died from stomach cancer. He had been fighting the disease for at least 18 months:

Keith announced that he was diagnosed with the disease in June 2022, just before receiving the Country Icon award at the People's Choice Country Awards. There he was interviewed by E! News. NBC News recalls that he described the "roller coaster" that the treatment entailed: "You get good days and, you know, you’re up and down, up and down. It’s always zero to 60 and 60 to zero but I feel good today."

Cancer did not end his career. While undergoing treatment, he performed live for three nights in Las Vegas last December. According to his official website, he performed many of his 32 number 1s and 42 Top 10s. He mentioned those concerts in his end to 2023 social media post:
