California: Democratic lawmakers pass bill to take away custody from parents who refuse to “affirm” their child’s gender identity

The bill will now be sent to Gavin Newsom's desk. The governor is expected to sign the bill into law because he supports these woke policies.

The California State Assembly on Friday approved a bill that would allow judges in child custody cases to take custody of children away from their parents if they refuse to accept the child's gender transition.

The controversial Democratic legislative proposal, AB 957, changes child welfare standards by including gender identity as part of the child's health, safety and well-being.

This implies that parents could be charged with child abuse and stripped of custody simply for not accepting a child's claims about their gender identity.

The Democratic-majority Assembly approved the bill with 57 votes in favor and 16 against. It will now go to Gov. Gavin Newsom, who is expected to sign the bill because he supports these woke policies.

The project is "a wolf in sheep's clothing"

After the Assembly's approval was announced, billionaire and California resident Elon Musk made a post through his social media, X (formerly known as Twitter), explaining how damaging this legislation could be.

"This bill is a wolf in sheep’s clothing. What it actually means is that if you disagree with the other parent about sterilizing your child, you lose custody. Utter madness!" said Musk.

Senator recommends leaving California

Sen. Scott Wilk, R-Calif., has opined in the past that if this legislation passes, parents should leave the state.

“In recent years, we have put government bureaucrats between parents, children, and doctors when it comes to medical care—and now we have [AB 975] where if a parent does not support the ideology of the government, [children are] going to be taken away from the home. If you love your children, you need to flee California," he said.
