Joe Jonas and Sophie Turner are calling it quits on their marriage. According to Miami-Dade County public records, the singer filed for divorce this Tuesday after four years of marriage. Both released a statement confirming the decision.

"After four wonderful years of marriage, we have mutually decided to amicably end our marriage. There are many speculative narratives as to why but, truly this is a united decision and we sincerely hope that everyone can respect our wishes for privacy for us and our children," they wrote in an Instagram post.

The petition for divorce states that the marriage is "irretrievably broken." Joe Jonas is asking for shared custody of his two children, according to CNN, which obtained access to the lawsuit.

The couple signed a prenuptial agreement. The singer and actress began their relationship in 2017. Together, they have two daughters who were born in 2020 and 2022.

There have been rumors alluding that the couple was splitting up. However, they seemed to lose steam after Jonas posted a photo on Instagram on Tuesday of him wearing his wedding ring.

Turner and Jonas tied the knot in a private ceremony in Las Vegas on May 1, 2019, after the Billboard Music Awards. They later had a second ceremony that took place at the renowned Château de Tourreau in the south of France, according to Elle.
