Colombia: A leader of a FARC splinter group accused of financing the murder of Miguel Uribe has been killed

The Colombian armed forces killed Miguel Orlando Guzmán, one of the leaders of the dissident faction of the Revolutionary Armed Forces of Colombia (FARC) known as Segunda Marquetalia. He was accused of financing the murder of former presidential candidate Miguel Uribe Turbay.
Authorities had Guzmán, known by the alias "Robinson Gutiérrez," in their sights for financing the murder of Uribe Turbay, which took place in June of last year. The former presidential candidate was shot while holding a campaign rally in the town of Fontibón, very close to Bogotá. After spending just over two months in a hospital in the capital, he ultimately lost his life.
The military operation to locate Guzmán was carried out in the municipality of Tello, in the Huila department, according to Colombian President Abelardo de la Espriella.
"We are bringing justice to Miguel Uribe Turbay. This is the result of the operation in Tello, Huila: alias Robinson Gutiérrez neutralized," De la Espriella wrote on X, adding that the next objective is the capture or elimination of the leader of the Segunda Marquetalia, Luciano Marín Arango, nicknamed "Iván Márquez."
In addition, during this operation, three people were arrested and several firearms and grenades were seized. Nine people have been arrested in connection with Uribe's murder, including the underage hitman who shot the former presidential candidate.
