Farmers in Spain have held three consecutive days of protests. They are doing so as demonstrations in several neighboring countries against European Union measures aimed at climate change and agriculture intensify. Leaders of the demonstrations have said that the regulations prevent them from remaining competitive with other agricultural markets.

For three days, farmers have blocked roads with tractors and other agricultural equipment. On Wednesday, there were protests in the regions of Castilla-La Mancha, Andalusia, Navarra and Catalonia, according to the General Directorate of Traffic (DGT).

The demonstrations are expected to continue in the coming days. In fact, the demonstrations are also expected to reach the big cities. In Madrid, a group of farmers called to protest in the vicinity of the Spanish Socialist Workers Party (PSOE) over the weekend.

Farmers in several European countries staged mass protests in recent weeks. Among the initiatives they criticized was the transition to "greener" farming, such as the project to cut pesticides.

In view of the situation, European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen assured that she will propose to withdraw the EU's project on the reduction of the use of pesticides, highly criticized in the recent farmers' protests that have shaken Europe and that last week reached the heart of the European Union.
