Philadelphia team rewards one of its stars after winning Super Bowl LIX. He signed a two-year, $41.2 million contract extension.

Saquon Barkley (Eagles) celebrates winning Super Bowl LIX.
New milestone in the National Football League (NFL). With barely a season gone since he landed in Pennsylvania, the Philadelphia Eagles have agreed to a contract extension with one of their stars, Saquon Barkley, making him the highest-paid running back in history.
The deal comprises being tied to the Eagles for two more years for $41.2 million, according to information obtained by the NFL from insiders Ian Rapoport and Tom Pelissero.
Shortly after the news broke, the 28-year-old Barkley himself published a post on his X profile thanking the Eagles for the trust they placed in him after leaving the New York Giants.
"Grateful for the Eagles, grateful for my team and grateful for the incredible fans in Philadelphia. Fly Eagles, fly," the running back wrote.
Barkley also shared a post discussing his new contract.
When he came to the Eagles in 2024, Barkely signed a three-year, $37.75 million contract - $26 million fixed. Now, he is assured of staying with the team through 2028, receiving some $36 million fixed plus target incentives of $15 million.
As one of the best running backs in the NFL, he was one of the great architects - along with Jalen Hurts, among others- of the Eagles' win against the Kansas City Chiefs in Super Bowl LIX. He was named Offensive Player of the Year this season.
