The Murrieta Valley school board approved by a three-to-two vote the controversial measure that the state attorney general called a "forced outing policy."
The move is a direct response to efforts by conservative leaders to prevent the indoctrination of children.
The state attorney general accuses it of violating the constitutional rights of trans children, endangering "the physical, mental and emotional well-being of students."
