Trump announces Russia and Ukraine have reached ‘energy ceasefire’ effective immediately
The president stated in a post on Truth Social that both sides are in agreement and urged them not to break the truce in order to lower energy prices worldwide. Zelensky responded to the Republican's remarks about his replacement by saying, "it's up to our society, up to our people to choose one or another leader."

Zelensky, Trump and Putin
Donald Trump announced that Russia and Ukraine have reached an agreement to cease attacks on the rival country's energy facilities "effective immediately."
In a post on Truth Social, the U.S. president stated that "there is an ENERGY CEASEFIRE in the War between Russia and Ukraine. Both parties have agreed."
Trump then urged both Vladimir Putin and Volodymyr Zelensky "do not break" the agreement with new attacks.

The Republican had long been accusing the conflict between Russia and Ukraine of being the real culprit behind the continuous rise in energy prices, especially oil prices, due to repeated Ukrainian attacks on Russian refineries.
In fact, Trump had urged Zelensky on several occasions to cease these practices, to which the Ukrainian president was reluctant. Finally, in the face of criticism from Kiev, the Republican stated, "I suggest [to the Ukrainians] that they get a new leader."
Zelensky says he learned of the truce from the press, but accepts it
For his part, Zelensky expressed surprise at Trump's announcement and stated that he had learned of it through the press. However, he was quick to clarify that he is willing to accept it if Moscow does the same.
"The ceasefire announcement was news for me. But if Russians agree to an energy ceasefire Ukraine will agree. If president Trump negotiated it with Putin - please tell us when the ceasefire begins - we are ready and we will accept it" Zelensky said, according to Axios reporter Barak Ravid, who posted these remarks on X.
Zelensky responds to Trump: "It's up to our society, up to our people to choose one or another leader"
"With all respect to President Trump, it's up to our society, up to our people to choose one or another leader" he said, and reiterated his call for a "60-day" ceasefire with Russia, which, he said, would allow for elections to be organized.
