The United States announced the approval of an arms sale to United Arab Emirates (UAE), a country that has been the target of Iranian attacks since the conflict in the Middle East began. The deal is valued at $1 billion.

"The proposed sale will improve the United Arab Emirates’ capability to meet current and future threats by developing and maintaining a strong and ready self-defense capability and improving interoperability with U.S. forces," the State Department emphasized in a statement reported by AFP.

Up to 10,000 kits of the Advanced Precision Kill Weapon System (APKWS) will be delivered—a guidance system that converts unguided rockets into precision munitions.

This system offers a less costly alternative to using missiles to neutralize relatively inexpensive aircraft, such as drones.

This sale "will support the foreign policy and national security objectives of the United States by improving the security of a major defense partner," added the State Department, which has signed several arms sales agreements in 2026 to strengthen the United Arab Emirates' air defense capabilities.
