Colombia: One of those implicated in the attack against Miguel Uribe escapes from the center where he was in custody

The Attorney General's Office reported that it is already investigating the facts and trying to find the whereabouts of the subject.

Colombian authorities reported that one of the minors involved in the attack against presidential candidate Miguel Uribe Turbay escaped from the center where he was in custody located in Bogota.

Through a statement, the Colombian Attorney General's Office confirmed that the 17-year-old minor escaped from the center days after voluntarily surrendering himself.

"The Colombian Attorney General's Office expresses its condemnation of the escape of the adolescent witness in the criminal case being prosecuted for the attack against Dr. Miguel Uribe Turbay, who was being held in an Emergency Center of the Colombian Institute of Family Welfare (ICBF)," authorities detailed on X.

"This office has initiated the corresponding inquiries to establish responsibility for the facts, protection conditions in which the adolescent was and asks the authorities to work to find his whereabouts as soon as possible in order to protect the investigation," they added.

On June 7, while holding a rally in the town of Fontibón, Uribe Turbay was the victim of an attack perpetrated by a 14 year-old minor. The teenager attacked the presidential candidate from behind, shooting him twice.
