The Los Angeles Dodgers defeated the Atlanta Braves 3-1 on Tuesday, putting them one win away from advancing to the Major League Baseball Championship Series.

With home runs by Enrique Hernández and Freddie Freeman, along with a stellar performance by Japan's Yoshinobu Yamamoto on the mound, the Dodgers secured a victory that puts them up 2-1 in the National League Division Series, a best-of-five series.

Hernández hit a two-run home run, while Freeman launched a solo shot in the fourth inning to seal the victory for the Los Angeles team.

Yamamoto, a 28-year-old right-hander, struck out 10 batters and allowed just one run and four hits over seven innings. The series will continue this Wednesday in Atlanta, where the Dodgers will look to clinch their spot in the next round.

The Los Angeles Dodgers are the defending World Series champions and are looking to win a third consecutive title, a feat no National League team has ever achieved.

Meanwhile, Shohei Ohtani was moved down to fifth in the batting order, his lowest position in six years. The Japanese star, a four-time Major League Baseball MVP, has been dealing with injuries to his right bicep and left knee.

Ohtani went 0-for-2, with a walk and a strikeout.

Padres avoid sweep against the Brewers

In the second game of the night, the San Diego Padres defeated the Milwaukee Brewers 4-3 and extended the National League Division Series to a fourth game.

Dominican Fernando Tatis Jr. broke the tie with a sacrifice fly in the third inning, while his compatriot Manny Machado extended the lead with a single to left field.

The Brewers tied the game with a home run by Venezuelan William Contreras to left field and a sacrifice fly by Jackson Chourio in the fifth inning.

Jake Cronenworth, who hit the Padres' second home run of the game, and Miguel Andújar of the Dominican Republic restored the home team's two-run lead at Petco Park in San Diego.

Milwaukee managed to narrow the gap with a single by Christian Yelich, but was unable to mount a comeback against Michael King, who entered as a reliever to close out the game and secure the victory for the Californians.

The Padres and Brewers will face off this Wednesday in Game 4 of the series, which could determine who advances to the next round.
