AS Roma dismisses José Mourinho
Poor results led to the dismissal of the Portuguese coach, who had been leading the Italian team since May 2021.
AS Roma of Serie A official dismissed its coach, José Mourinho, after just under three years at the helm. The team had a series of disappointing results in recent games. The board conveyed the news through a statement published on its website, with which it thanked Mourinho for his work:
With Mourinho on the bench, AS Roma regained status in European competitions, winning the Europa Conference League in 2022 and finishing as a finalist in the Europa League last season.
AS Roma is not Mourinho's first experience with an Italian side. Previously, he managed Inter Milan, a team with which he won his second UEFA Champions League, which he also won with FC Porto. His other experiences as a coach were SL Benfica, UD Leiria, Chelsea (in two separate stints), Real Madrid, Manchester United and Tottenham Hotspur.
His place in the Italian team will be occupied by Daniele De Rossi, one of the legends of AS Roma.
