Jennifer Hermoso sues Luis Rubiales for kissing her at World Cup final
The Spanish Prosecutor's Office informed the player that she could report the event as it may constitute a crime of sexual assault.
Spanish soccer player Jennifer Hermoso has sued Royal Spanish Football Federation (RFEF) President Luis Rubiales for kissing her without consent, according to the player, after the Spanish national team won the Women's World Cup.
A few days ago, the Prosecutor's Office, which will file a complaint against Rubiales, told Hermoso that she could file a lawsuit against the president of the RFEF as the kiss could constitute a crime of sexual assault. The presentation of the complaint took place on Tuesday at the headquarters of the State Attorney General's Office located in Madrid, according to the EFE Agency.
Dismissal of Jorge Vilda
The complaint against Rubiales was filed on the same day that the RFEF dismissed Jorge Vilda as sports director and women's national team coach and announced Montse Tomé as his replacement. "After everything I have achieved, to leave my role, I have a clear conscience. I have given 100% and I do not understand it, I did not see my dismissal as deserved," said the former coach.
The institution made the decision after Vilda applauded Rubiales after the speech given by the president of the RFEF in which he refused to resign. Rubiales also assured that the kiss with Jennifer Hermoso was given with the consent of the player.
