The founder of the Christian ministry Focus on the Family, Dr. James Dobson, died at 89. He was an adviser to five presidents, including Donald Trump.

Through a release, the Dr. James Dobson Family Institute -the institution he founded- confirmed the news.

"Dr. James C. Dobson, one of the most influential Christian leaders of the last half-century and a tireless advocate for the traditional family, passed away on August 21, 2025 at the age of 89," reported the Dr. James Dobson Family Institute.

Focus on the Family also echoed the death of its founder through a message written by its current president, Jim Daly, posted on its website.

"With Dr. Dobson’s passing, we remember the life of a gifted man who walked with the Lord. I’m thankful for his sensitivity to those who were weak, downtrodden, and sometimes overlooked," Daly said.

During his career, he advised five presidents: Ronald Reagan, George H. W. Bush, Bill Clinton, George W. Bush and Trump.
