Donald Trump announced that the companies Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac will invest $3 billion in the mortgage market in Montana in 2027, with the goal of helping 10,000 homebuyers. The president made the announcement during a campaign event in Kalispell, Montana, where he also revealed that the Department of Defense would build a new testing ground for advanced weapons and technologies in the state.

The event took place at the Majestic Valley Arena, where the president sought to boost Republican congressional candidates. Among them was Aaron Flint, who is running for the 1st Congressional District in the House of Representatives against Democrat Sam Forstag. The seat is open due to the retirement of Republican Congressman Ryan Zinke. In addition, Trump praised Republican Senate candidate Kurt Alme, who is running to succeed Steve Daines, who also chose to retire.

During the event, the president announced plans to invest in the mortgage market so that more families can "achieve the American Dream." However, the president did not specify how the $3 billion would be used or what conditions buyers would have to meet to qualify.

As for Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac, these are two federally backed companies that help banks offer mortgages, with the goal of facilitating access to mortgage credit.

In addition, Trump noted that the Department of Defense will build a new testing center in Montana for weapons and new technologies. These include "potential autonomous weapons, space and electronic warfare technology, supersonics and hypersonics."

Senator Tim Sheehy, who was also present at the event, welcomed the announcement on his X account: "Montana is uniquely positioned to spearhead the development of next-gen technology for America’s warfighters. With our vast landscapes, innovative spirit, and proud military heritage, we’re the 'Last Best Place' to ensure we win the wars of tomorrow."

Finally, the president highlighted the construction of a new Janicki Industries plant in Great Falls, Montana, intended for the aerospace and defense industries. The project, which is already underway, involves an investment of $800 million. The company plans to create more than 2,000 jobs once the complex is completed.
