Donald Trump announced Thursday that he rules out attacking Iran before the country's November 3 midterm elections, and assured that Washington is engaged in "productive talks" with Tehran.

"I want to make it clear to everyone that (...) we will not attack Iran at any time before the midterm elections," he wrote on his Truth Social platform.

"We are having productive talks with the Islamic Republic of Iran," he added, without providing details.

The rise in fuel prices has been driven by persistent tensions in the Strait of Hormuz—a strategic chokepoint for global oil trade—as well as by hostilities between Yemen's Houthis and Saudi Arabia.

Polls indicate that American voters are deeply upset about rising fuel prices.

The conflict in the Middle East began with U.S. and Israeli attacks on Iran on February 28.
