President Donald Trump conveyed to his French counterpart, Emmanuel Macron, the US position on the conflict in Ukraine at a time of high discrepancies between the country and the European Union (EU).

In a meeting held at the White House on Monday, Trump told Macron that, if he follows his line of route, the conflict in Ukraine could end in "a few weeks," while the French president asked him to include the Ukrainian president, Volodymyr Zelensky, in all negotiations and meetings he has with the Russian diplomacy.

Trump's response to Macron's request was that Ukraine "must be involved" in all negotiations with Russia to end a conflict that, this February 24, has entered its third year.

During the meeting - which was also attended by Vice President JD Vance and Secretary of State Marco Rubio - Macron assured that the Europeans "are ready to go as far as sending troops" to Ukraine to consolidate a "lasting" peace in Eastern Europe.

This meeting was held while the United Nations General Assembly (UN) voted on resolutions to reiterate its support for Ukraine.

The resolution - which was the result of a modification of a text drafted by the Trump Administration after being amended several times - received the backing of 93 of the 193 UN member countries, while 18 - including the United States - rejected it. In addition, 65 nations abstained.
