Yagi leaves more than 70 dead in Burma after sweeping through Vietnam
The typhoon continues to batter Southeast Asia. Hundreds of thousands of people have been displaced, and 89 people have been reported missing.
After sweeping through Vietnam and leaving more than 200 dead, hundreds missing and tens of thousands evacuated, Typhoon Yagi advanced into Burma (Myanmar), where at least 74 people have already lost their lives and the whereabouts of 89 others are unknown.
As reported by AFP, more than 235,000 residents have had to be evacuated because of flooding that is destroying property.
In Southeast Asia, Yagi has already left 350 people dead in Vietnam, Burma, Laos and Thailand.
The hardest hit parts of Burma are rural areas, where infrastructure is not as solid as in more urban areas where all fatalities, injuries and disappearances are being counted.
