They arrest 'La Kena,' alleged head of the 'Ciclones' of the Gulf Cartel

Authorities have arrested José Alberto García Vilano, alias The Kena. The man is accused of leading the gang of Cyclones of the Gulf Cartel, and directed the kidnapping of four American citizens. He was arrested in the vicinity of a shopping plaza in the San Pedro Garza García municipality, in the city of Monterrey.

It was learned that the arrest occurred in a joint operation with the State Investigation Agency and elements of the Navy. The operation was celebrated by the mayor of San Pedro Garza García, Miguel Treviño. In addition, he congratulated the security forces for achieving the arrest without "a single shot."

"Thanks to good work of intelligence, coordination and police monitoring, today an alleged criminal leader was arrested without a single shot. Work and coordination work," Treviño wrote on his X account (formerly Twitter).

According to the Mexican newspaper The universal, "the Attorney General's Office of Tamaulipas offered a reward of 2.5 million pesos for information leading to the location and arrest of Jorge Alberto García Vilano, who personally directed the kidnapping of four American citizens, of whom two survived. After his capture, naval and state personnel placed alias 'Kena' at the disposal of the Nuevo León Prosecutor's Office to be prosecuted for crimes under common law."
