FIFA disqualifies Rubiales for three years for his kiss with Jenni Hermoso
The highest football body imposed the sanction for violation of the disciplinary code and "the basic rules of decent conduct."
FIFA announced the disqualification for three years of the former President of the Spanish Football Federation, Luis Rubiales, for the "non-consensual" kiss of the player Jenni Hermoso during the celebration of the world title of the women's team. According to the agency, Rubiales' actions represented a violation of its disciplinary code and "the basic rules of decent conduct."
The FIFA sanction prohibits Rubiales from any activity related to football
In a statement, FIFA recalled that, initially, and after several days of international controversy, it imposed a 90-day precautionary suspension on the then president of the Spanish Federation. After studying what happened in the celebrations and the statements of the protagonists, the highest body of world football decided to ratify the sentence and impose a period of three years of disqualification "from all activities related to football on a national and international level."
Rubiales now has a period of 10 days to appeal the sanction , which was notified to him shortly before it was made public, according to FIFA.
