The United States will send 31 M1 Abrams battle tanks to Ukraine. This was confirmed by Joe Biden on Wednesday after Kiev sent the request:

We will send 31 Abrams tanks, the equivalent of a Ukrainian battalion. These tanks are further proof of our enduring commitment to Ukraine and our confidence in the capabilities of Ukrainian forces. We are going to make sure that the Ukrainians are well equipped to fight this battle. It is [a battle] for freedom.

Finally, the Biden Administration agreed to provide military support to Ukraine to confront the Russian regime, after rejecting it on several occasions over the last several months. The announcement came hours after German Chancellor Olaf Scholz, announced the country would offer military support to the Ukrainian army. The president praised Germany for "stepping up to the plate."

Putin expected that support from the European Union and the United States would weaken over time. He was wrong then and still is.

Germany

On Wednesday, Scholz announced Germany would send 14 Leopard 2 battle tanks to Ukraine to fight against Russia as well as ammunition and logistical support:

This decision follows our well-known line of supporting Ukraine to the best of our ability. We are acting in a closely coordinated manner internationally.

The German chancellor pledged military support on the condition that the U.S. send its tanks as well. Apart from that, Scholz confirmed that the training of Ukrainian troops in Germany will start soon.
