Elon Musk officially launches his own artificial intelligence: xAI
The new company aims to compete directly with OpenAI, which Musk asked to further regulate its development.
Tech mogul Elon Musk officially announced Wednesday the launch of his artificial intelligence company, xAI. It is a project that was unveiled last March through several press exclusives.
In a brief tweet and a message on the project's website, Elon Musk announced his plan to compete with OpenAI, parent company of ChatGPT. Musk had been toying with the idea for some time and entering the world of artificial intelligence. Months before this announcement, he promoted the signing of a treaty to regulate artificial intelligences and prevent their development from accelerating in a way that is harmful to society.
On the xAI website, the company's founders invite the public to a Twitter Space Chat on Friday, July 14, to present the initiative further. For now, xAI revealed who is part of the team assembled by Musk. They include a number of engineers and managers who have worked with OpenAI, Google, Microsoft Research and Deepmind.
