He's already making a splash. LeBron James made his debut with the Philadelphia 76ers on Thursday in a preseason game against the Brooklyn Nets, in which the latter came away with the win (114-108).
"Obviously, I was wearing a new uniform, but the game is the game, and the game is needed to be played on the floor," said King James after the game. "I was happy to be able to log some minutes with the guys that we've been going at each other in practice for the last two weeks, a week and a half."
"We’re still trying to put each other in the position to be successful and complement each other the best way we can on the floor. But it’s going to take some time. Tonight was a good sample size for us to build on," added the all-time leading scorer in NBA history.
In his first game with the Sixers, James played 18 minutes, during which he recorded 10 points, 4 rebounds, 5 assists, and 1 steal.
Despite the loss, Philadelphia showed positive signs, particularly in the first two quarters. Head coach Nick Nurse fielded what is expected to be his starting lineup for the season, with Jaylen Brown, V.J. Edgecombe, Joel Embiid and Tyrese Maxey joining James.
