In a match that drew criticism due to the disparity in skill between the two teams, Argentina crushed Burkina Faso 7-0 in Buenos Aires at the Monumental Stadium.

Lautaro Martínez (4'), Moumouni Diallo (8', own goal), Gianluca Prestianni (12'), Nicolás Paz (34'), Julián Álvarez (36'), Franco Mastantuono (56') and Giuliano Simeone (90+2') scored the goals for the 2026 World Cup runner-up.

Argentina was on track for victory before the first quarter-hour.

Beyond the lopsided score, the night allowed Lionel Scaloni to evaluate several young players and further the generational shift he is driving within the Albiceleste.

Spain keeps rolling

Spain, the 2026 World Cup champion, secured another victory. This time, they defeated the Czech Republic 3-1, though they faced some difficulties at certain points in the match.

FC Barcelona stars Lamine Yamal and Rodri Hernández scored Spain's first two goals. Mikel Merino, who plays for Arsenal FC, sealed the win. The Czech goal was scored by Jiri Slama.

The Spanish national team has not lost a match since June 8, 2025, when it was defeated by Portugal on penalty kicks in the Nations League final.
