Alcaraz defeats Tarvet and keeps his goal of winning his third Wimbledon

(With information from AFP) After defeating Italian player Fabio Fognini in the first round, Spanish tennis player Carlos Alcaraz, number two in the ATP rankings, managed to advance to the third round of Wimbledon 2025 after defeating British Oliver Tarvet, number 733, in three sets (6-1, 6-4 and 6-4).
In this way, Alcaraz keeps intact his aspiration of achieving his third Wimbledon and his sixth Grand Slam.
For his part, Tarvet left a good image at Wimbledon after having to access the final phase of the Grand Slam having to play the qualifying rounds.
With this win over Tarvet, Alcaraz has won his last 20 matches since losing to Denmark's Holger Rune in the Barcelona final in April, an impressive streak that has earned him titles at the Rome Masters 1000, Roland Garros and the Queens Tournament.
The 22-year-old Spaniard, who came from two sets down to beat Italy's Jannik Sinner in an epic clay-court final at Roland Garros last month, has won 31 of his 34 matches.
The rest of the day's action saw Russian Andrey Rublev beat South African Lloyd Harris and American Frances Tiafoe surprisingly lose to Britain's Cameron Norrie.
In the women's draw, the Belarusian player Aryna Sabalenka, number one in the WTA ranking, got rid of the Czech Marie Bouzkova in two sets. American player Madison Keys, number six, did not have much trouble against Serbian Olga Danilovic and advanced to the third round.
