In the final second of the first overtime, Jayson Tatum hit a three-pointer to give the Boston Celtics a 126-123 victory over the Toronto Raptors on an NBA Saturday that also featured a Lakers win.

Tatum, 26, a 2024 Paris Olympics medalist, was 1 assist shy of a triple double with 24 points, 11 rebounds and 9 assists.

Boston made 21 3-pointers in the game, including five by Dominican Al Horford.

The Raptors suffered their eighth consecutive away loss in the 2024-25 season, have just two wins and are last in the Eastern Conference. The Celtics are in second place in the Eastern Conference.

Meanwhile, the day was bittersweet for Giannis Antetokounmpo, who had his first triple double of the season but missed a decisive shot with two seconds on the clock in the Charlotte Hornets' 115-114 victory over the Milwaukee Bucks.

LaMelo Ball was perfect (11/11) from the free-throw line, including two big makes with seven seconds on the clock to give the Hornets the lead.

Ball, 23, scored 15 points in the final period for a total of 26 points with 9 rebounds and 6 assists.

Davis key for the Lakers

The Los Angeles Lakers defeated the New Orleans Pelicans 104-99. Anthony Davis posted a double-double with 31 points and 14 rebounds.

The Los Angeles Angels added their fifth consecutive victory, improving their record to eight wins and four losses, placing them among the top five in the Western Conference.

In another of Saturday's games, the Dallas Mavericks defeated the San Antonio Spurs 110-93 to snap a four-game losing streak in a matchup of Texas teams.

Kyrie Irving and Luka Doncic were the top scorers for Dallas with 22 points apiece. Frenchman Victor Wembanyama was absent because of a knee injury.

Sacramento Kings point guard De'Aaron Fox scored 49 points in a 121-117 win over Utah Jazz, just one night after he scored 60 in a 130-126 loss to Minnesota Timberwolves in the NBA Cup.

Fox, 26, combined for 109 points in the last two games, breaking DeMarcus Cousins' franchise record for points in back-to-back games, with 104 in the 2016-2017 season.
