The Kansas City Chiefs and the Baltimore Ravens will open the 105th season of the National Football League (NFL) at Arrowhead Stadium, home of the current Super Bowl champions. It will be one of the games of season, featuring two of the favorites to lift the Vince Lombardi trophy in February.

All 32 franchises are aiming to appear in Super Bowl LIX, to be played at Caesars Superdome in New Orleans on Feb. 9, 2025. With the exception of the Chiefs, who will be looking to win their third consecutive Super Bowl and the fifth in their history, the remaining 31 teams will fight to dethrone Patrick Mahomes' squad and climb to the top of the NFL.

Opening week of the NFL

Aside from the inaugural duel between the Chiefs and Ravens at Arrowhead Stadium, the first week will feature the following games:

  • Kansas City Chiefs - Baltimore Ravens
  • Philadelphia Eagles - Green Bay Packers
  • New Orleans Saints - Carolina Panthers
  • New York Giants - Minnesota Vikings
  • Cincinnati Bengals - New England Patriots
  • Atlanta Falcons - Pittsburgh Steelers
  • Indianapolis Colts - Houston Texans
  • Buffalo Bills - Arizona Cardinals
  • Chicago Bears - Tennessee Titans
  • Miami Dolphins - Jacksonville Jaguars
  • Seattle Seahawks - Denver Broncos
  • Los Angeles Chargers - Las Vegas Raiders

The Chiefs are the team to beat

The Chiefs, led by Patrick Mahomes, have played in four of the last five Super Bowls (LIV, LV, LVII and LVIII), winning three of them (LIV, LVII and LVIII). They are undoubtedly the favorites this year and, therefore, the team to beat.

Their dominance could be neutralized by other teams hungry to take home the Vince Lombardi Trophy in February. One of them is the San Francisco 49ers, who lost against the Chiefs in Super Bowls LIV and LVIII.

Among the favorites are also the Baltimore Ravens, with Lamar Jackson at the helm. The Ravens are one of four teams that has won every Super Bowl it has played in (XXXV and XLVII).

Other contenders are the Detroit Lions, the Buffalo Bills, the Cincinnati Bengals, the Philadelphia Eagles, the Houston Texans, the Miami Dolphins and the New York Jets, who will have Aaron Rodgers under center a year after suffering an Achilles injury in his first game with the team.
