Simone Biles was crowned for the sixth time with the all-around title, equaling the mark of the Japan’s Kohei Uchimura. With Friday's victory at the World Championships in Antwerp, Belgium, she also won her twenty-first gold medal in a World Championship. Adding her World Cup and Olympic awards, she is now the most decorated gymnast in history in both the female and male categories.

The Sportpaleis Antwerp sports palace, was the same one where a 16-year-old Biles won her first all-around title a decade ago. "The gold medal means everything" Biles said after the medal ceremony. "It means strength, courage, the fight, tenacity. It has been such a long journey to get back here and feel comfortable and confident to compete again." She resumed this journey in August after a more than two-year break, when in the 2020 Tokyo Olympics she walked away from the sport citing mental health reasons:

I'm proud of the work of the work that I've put in to get to this point and it's just exciting that I keep going up and up each and every year. So I'm excited for what’s to come.
