Tragedy strikes Chad Lowe: his daughter Fiona dies at age 13

Fiona Hepler Lowe, daughter of actor Chad Lowe and producer Kim Painter, has died at age 13, the family reported in a statement shared with PEOPLE.
"We are deeply heartbroken by the loss of our beloved Fiona," the Lowe family said in the statement released on Tuesday, September 29.
The family remembered Fiona as "a loving young girl who was smart, creative, and loved to dance."
"She was adored by her sisters and she was deeply loved by her parents," they said. "In fact, she was the light of our lives."
The statement also included a reference to the U.S. Suicide and Crisis Helpline 988: "If you or someone you know is struggling with mental health, please reach out to the 988 Suicide & Crisis Lifeline by calling or texting 988."
Chad Lowe, 58, and Kim Painter, 52, welcomed Fiona on November 16, 2012. She was the second of the couple's three daughters. The oldest, Mabel Painter, is 17, and the youngest, Nixie Barbara, is 10.
In 2025, Chad Lowe posted a message on Instagram to celebrate Fiona's birthday and her entry into her teens.
"Celebrating Fiona officially becoming a teen today!!" he wrote at the time. "Keep dancing through life FiBear! Love you soooo much."
Fiona's death comes after the family lost their home in Pacific Palisades during the Los Angeles wildfires in early 2025.

"Almost a month after we evacuated our girls finally got to go back to see what’s left of their home,” he wrote in an Instagram post at the time. “The way they’ve handled this whole devastating experience is nothing short of remarkable. I am in awe of their spirit and resilience. Helping them navigate these tough times is my sole purpose. Being their dad is my life’s greatest joy and privilege".
Chad Lowe, 58, is the younger brother of fellow actor Rob Lowe.
