Jonathan Taylor Thomas, the star of 'Home Improvement,' arrested for obstruction in California

Actor Jonathan Taylor Thomas, known for playing Randy Taylor on the series "Home Improvement," was arrested on Monday in Westlake Village, California, for obstruction and resisting an officer, according to multiple U.S. media outlets and the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department (LASD).
The incident: Traffic stop on suspicion of DUI
According to the LASD, deputies stopped a vehicle around 12:30 a.m. Monday at Westlake Boulevard and Townsgate Road after observing the car stopped at a green light and blocking traffic.
The deputies noticed that the driver appeared to be under the influence of alcohol and began an investigation on suspicion of driving under the influence (DUI). Thomas, 45, was a passenger in the vehicle.
Exiting the vehicle and struggle with officers
According to the police report and several sources cited by local media, Thomas repeatedly got out of the car during the investigation, even though the deputies ordered him to remain inside.
Authorities stated that the actor "appeared intoxicated, kept getting out of the vehicle, and approached the deputies, distracting them from their investigation." When they attempted to arrest him for obstruction and public intoxication, Thomas allegedly kicked one of the officers in the stomach.
Arrest and release
Thomas was taken to the Malibu/Lost Hills Sheriff's Station, where he was booked on suspicion of obstruction and resisting an officer, in addition to a separate charge of public intoxication, according to jail records.
He was released approximately 34 hours later, on Tuesday. The driver of the vehicle was also arrested on suspicion of DUI.
