Tennis legend Martina Navratilova again made statements Thursday about women's sports and the inclusion of transgender athletes. On social media, Navratilova spoke out against Democratic administrations for sheltering the participation of natural-born biological men in women's competitions.
"I hate that the Democrats have totally failed women and girls on this very clear issue that women's sports are for women only," she wrote in a post on X.
Navratilova's comments coincide with Donald Trump's executive order to limit participation in women's categories to just biological women.
It is not the first time Navratilova has criticized Democrats for failing to protect women's sports. Last month she expressed frustration over the lack of Democratic support when the House passed the Protecting Women and Girls in Sports Act. Only two Democrats voted with Republicans on the bill.
In the past, Navratilova criticized trans swimmer Lia Thomas following her attack on feminism. She did so following comments the latter had previously made in which she claimed that she did not feel supported by women. Many of them did not take kindly to Thomas competing in women's categories.
