Jennifer Lopez files for divorce from Ben Affleck after two years of marriage
The couple famously known as 'Bennifer' first tied the knot in Las Vegas in July 2022, followed a month later by a second celebration in Georgia on August 20.

After months of speculation, it's now official: Jennifer Lopez and Ben Affleck are divorcing after just two years of marriage.
On Tuesday, the actress and singer personally filed for marital separation from the actor, submitting the divorce papers to the Los Angeles County Superior Court without the aid of a lawyer. She indicated that they have been separated since April 26.
The papers, to which TMZ gained exclusive access, did not reveal whether the couple, dubbed "Bennifer," had a premarital agreement. However, several sources close to the two revealed to the media outlet that there is no document detailing what would happen to their assets if they separated.
'Bennifer,' the relationship that began twenty years ago
The couple's love story dates back several years. Variety recalls that the two began a relationship in the early 2000s, a time when the media famously dubbed them "Bennifer." However, their relationship didn’t last.
JLo tried her luck again with Marc Anthony, whom she married while Ben Affleck ended up marrying Jennifer Garner. These relationships also did not work out and "Bennifer" got back together three years ago.
Their relationship was then stable and, in 2022, both decided to get married. The first ceremony was held in July in Las Vegas, followed by a further celebration that took place in Georgia on August 20 that year.
Everything seemed to be going well until a few months ago. It was then that the media began to perceive a rift between the couple. The first indication was when it was discovered that they had put their house up for sale almost a year ago.
That set off alarms that intensified when in May of this year, the singer, after canceling seven shows, announced that her 'This Is Me... Now' was postponed indefinitely claiming she needed to spend "some time with her family":

Months later, JLo celebrated her 55th birthday, with Affleck notably absent. Just a few days later, the actor hosted his own party for his 52nd birthday, but this time it was the singer who chose not to attend—despite having visited him just hours earlier.
Small details that made everyone think that Jennifer Lopez and Ben Affleck had decided to go their separate ways and now, with the request for divorce by the singer, are confirmed.
