At least one dead in a shooting on UC's Colorado Springs campus

Authorities reported that a shooting took place at the University of Colorado's Colorado Springs campus. The event occurred at the University of Colorado College System (UCCS) and at least one person was killed in the incident.

Campus police posted on Facebook, "Urgent UCCSAlert: Lockdown! Lock interior doors. Turn out the lights. Move away from sight. Do not open the door. Maintain silence. Evade/Defend."

Campus police also posted the following announcement: "The UCCS campus is closed today, February 16, 2024. Please continue to monitor our social media channels for updates."
