After announcing that located in Philadelphia's Welcome Park, the Biden Administration has decided to back down and leave the figure of the founder of Pennsylvania on the premises after criticism received for trying to carry out this woke initiative.

Through a statement, the National Park Service (NPS) - the body in charge of executing the measure - confirmed that it is withdrawing a decision with which they wanted to "offer a more welcoming, accurate, and inclusive experience for visitors":

Independence National Historical Park has withdrawn the review of a draft proposal to rehabilitate Welcome Park and closed the public comment period. The preliminary draft proposal, which was released prematurely and had not been subject to a complete internal agency review, is being retracted.  No changes to the William Penn statue are planned.

What the NPS does maintain is "its commitment to rehabilitating Welcome Park."
