'General Hospital' actor Tyler Christopher dies at 50

The actor died this Tuesday after having a heart attack in his San Diego apartment.

"General Hospital" actor Tyler Christopher died this Tuesday at the age of 50. The actor died after having a heart attack in his San Diego apartment. His co-star, actor Maurice Benard, shared the sad news on his Instagram account:

Tyler Christopher's life and career

The Hollywood Reporter recalls that Christopher rose to fame after accepting a role on the popular ABC series. His first appearance was in 1996. He played the role of Nikolas Cassadine until 1999. That year, Tyler Christopher decided to leave the soap opera and explore other projects.

It didn't last long. In 2003, Christopher returned to medical soap opera and played Nikolas' double, Connor Bishop. He played the role between 2004 and 2005. He left again but returned to the set of "General Hospital" in 2013. This time he returned to the role that made him famous, Nikolas Cassadine, until 2016. That same year Tyler Christopher won the Daytime Emmy Award for Best Lead Actor in a Drama Series.

His role on "General Hospital," despite being the most recognized, was not the only one. Tyler Christopher was also part of the cast of "Days of Our Lives.” He starred alongside Stefan DiMera between 2001 and 2019. His other longest-running role was in the series "The Lying Game," appearing in a total of 27 episodes. As a guest star he appeared in renowned series such as "CSI," "JAG" or "Charmed," among others.

Tyler Christopher was born on November 11, 1972 in Joliet (Illinois). He married Hispanic actress Eva Longoria in 2002. Two years later, they got divorced. Christopher got remarried in 2008 to Brienne Pedigo. Together they had two children before they separated in 2021.
