Mexican Marvel actor Tenoch Huerta accused of sexual assault
Huerta responded that his ex-partner "misrepresented" the relationship they had had almost a year ago, after she publicly called him a "sexual predator."
A Mexican woman claimed on social media that she was sexually assaulted by one of the rising stars of the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU): Tenoch Huerta, who played the villain Namor in “Black Panther: Wakanda Forever.”
Elena Rios, who defines herself as a saxophonist and activist, posted on her Twitter account that the Mexican actor was an "sexual predator." In the post, she also accused NGO Poder Prieto of not having paid her for using her content in a podcast. In addition, she called out the charity for being a "cult" that "protects" Huerta.
One user, Annah Bolena, then asked Rios if the she had been sexually assaulted by Huerta, to which the activist replied,"That's right, and [he has done it to] several others."
The following day, Ríos returned to Twitter - to share developments about another court case for assault, to explain that the actor's good reputation made it "difficult to talk about the emotional abuse and abuse of power" she had suffered. "In appearance, [he is] charming, a major characteristic of a narcissist, plus a good portion of the victimization," she continued.
She then maintained that she was not using the accusation for fame or money, "because I know how to work." She also said that she had not filed a lawsuit because justice is "unattainable" in Mexico, “a chauvinist country.”
Huerta fights back
"A false and completely unsubstantiated accusation about me has spread like wildfire," the actor posted on his Instagram this Monday. "I cannot let it go unchallenged any longer."
Huerta went on to explain that, almost a year ago, he had a consensual, "loving, warm and mutually supportive" relationship with Rios. However, when they separated after a few months, "Elena began to misrepresent our interactions both privately and in front of groups of mutual friends."
He also reported that he had hired a legal team to deal with the accusation and thanked his family and supporters.
Another Marvel case
Another rising MCU star, Jonathan Majors, was arrested in March for allegedly assaulting a woman.
The actor played the villain Kang the Conqueror in “Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania,” which premiered earlier this year. Marvel intended to give the character a starring role in its upcoming productions. The company does not seem to have changed its plan, according to the latest news on the matter.
