Former Biden official Sam Brinton avoids jail time but must pay $4,000 for Las Vegas luggage theft
Brinton is facing similar charges in Minneapolis which could result in him having to serve time in prison.
Sam Brinton, a former Department of Energy official in Joe Biden's administration, was sentenced to a suspended jail sentence of 180 days and ordered to pay $3,760.
According to court records obtained by Fox 5, Brinton pleaded "no contest" meaning he accepts neither innocence nor guilt, to charges that he stole luggage at Harry Reid International Airport on July 6, 2022.
Last Tuesday's sentencing in Las Vegas, Nevada, means Brinton will not spend time behind bars if he stays out of trouble. The 30-year-old was caught on security cameras stealing a suitcase while wearing a rainbow T-shirt, the same one was wearing later when he posted a photo on Instagram.
Even with that case behind him, Brinton is still facing similar charges for an incident at Minneapolis-Saint Paul International Airport on Sept. 16. He could be sentenced to up to five years in prison and fined $10,000.
