The "COVID Czar," who announced he will retire in December, will continue adding to his pockets with the highest government pension in history.

Dr. Anthony Fauci became one of the country's most recognizable political figures through his tenure as director of the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases (NIAID) during the coronavirus pandemic.

In addition to his fame, the Biden Administration gave him the joy of being one of the highest paid officials in recent years, elevating his wealth by $5 million (a 60% increase) during the three years of the pandemic. His fortune currently exceeds $12.6 million, according to the public spending transparency website OpentheBooks.

A highly paid physician

Fauci remains the highest-paid federal official. He earned $456,000 in 2021 and is set to earn $480,000 in 2022. The doctor is paid more than the president, four-star generals and the other 4.3 million federal employees.

- Between 2010 and 2020, Dr. Fauci earned $3.7 million in salary for his federal position.

- It is estimated that between gifts and awards, Fauci received nearly $1,000,000 in 2021.

- His investment earnings were approximately $910,174 in 2021.

- As of December 2021, Dr. Fauci's total net worth was $10,271,626 and his wife's earnings added an additional $2,405,887 to the Fauci fortune.

"Fauci must be accountable to all."

In January 2022, Senator Roger Marshall (R) accused Fauci of concealing his 2019 - 2020 earnings and demanded that he release those years' financial disclosures to the public.

This televised controversial discussion captured the moment - thanks to an open microphone - when the doctor responded to the congressman by calling him an "imbecile" and saying that Marshall had received incorrect information about his assets.

Fauci released his tax returns, which were not enough for Marshall, who later called him a liar in a statement:

Dr. Fauci was completely dishonest about his financial disclosures being open to the public...He lied to the American people.... He is more concerned about being a media star and posing for magazine covers than being honest with the people and holding China responsible for the covid pandemic that has claimed the lives of nearly 850,000 Americans.... No wonder he is America's least trusted bureaucrat.... At the end of the day, Dr. Fauci is accountable to all Americans.

"COVID Czar" retires a millionaire

Biden' s so-called "COVID Czar" announced that he would retire in December 2022: "I will be leaving this position in December of this year to pursue the next chapter of my career." He went on in his farewell: "It has been the honor of a lifetime to have led NIAID, an extraordinary institution, for so many years and through so many scientific and public health challenges. I am very proud of our many accomplishments."

Fauci's "political retirement" just after the mid-term elections -which could leave Congress in Republican hands - has not failed to create controversy in the media. Raheem J. Kassam, director of The National Pulse, commented that investigations into illegal financing could extend beyond his retirement:

Fauci resigns just before Republicans take control of Congress and begin investigating his funding of the Wuhan lab and its response to the pandemic.

However, Fauci will not leave empty-handed. In addition to the earnings from his years in politics, he, like all ordinary federal officials, enjoyed a number of extraordinary benefits such as paid time off, subsidized health care, pension benefits and other perks. It is estimated that the doctor will obtain a pension of $414,667 in the first year of retirement, the highest in US history. Thus, he will have received more than $1 million during his first three years out of politics.
