Vente Venezuela's communications coordinator, Claudia Macero, spoke Wednesday on Voz News about the possibility of opposition leader María Corina Machado meeting with interim President Delcy Rodríguez and on the need for Venezuela to hold presidential elections as soon as possible. During an interview with the show's host and executive director, Karina Yapor, Macero explained her party's position on these two issues and noted that Machado's presence in Venezuela is essential for the transition to move forward.
Regarding a possible meeting between Machado and Rodríguez, Macero maintained that any such meeting must be aimed at bringing about the political change that Venezuelans are demanding. "And it is clear that there can be no transition or democratic electoral process without the participation of María Corina and our Vente Venezuela Party," she stated.
"So, if what Venezuela needs involves some kind of meeting like that and it is aimed at change or at what Venezuelans hope for or demand — which is, in a way, the role we want to play and what we want to represent alongside María Corina — then indeed it will be something in which María Corina participates," she added.
The Vente Venezuela leader also insisted that Machado must return to the country as soon as possible. "What needs to happen now is for her to be able to return to Venezuela as soon as possible," she said. "María Corina is synonymous with order, and there can be no stabilization without legitimacy," she added.
When asked about the possibility of presidential elections being held in 2028 or 2029, Macero rejected that latter option and stated that the priority must be to listen to the demands of the Venezuelan people. "Look, definitely not. If we listen to what the people are demanding and calling for, it's a presidential election as soon as possible," she affirmed.
Similarly, the leader explained that the structural changes Venezuela needs require a presidential election and endorsed Republican Senator Bernie Moreno's proposal to hold elections on July 24, 2027, as a possible goal. "The changes our country demands, the challenges we face, and what we need to overcome and resolve all require structural decisions that can only be addressed or advanced through a presidential election," she said.
Macero also acknowledged that it would first be necessary to complete processes such as appointing a new National Electoral Council (CNE), reviewing the voter registry, and implementing safeguards for transparent elections. "But at least that gives us a goal. We cannot continue to prolong the people's suffering. The longer Venezuela goes without a presidential election, the longer it remains without power," he added.
Regarding Machado's eventual return, Macero said she does not know when it will happen, though she is confident she will eventually be able to return. "I don't know when she'll arrive. I believe that will happen," she said.
According to the leader, Machado's role would not be limited to participating in an election. "In a way, María Corina's role is precisely to listen to the people, travel the country, support this process, and organize people for election day — but above all, for what lies ahead," she explained.
