Trump pleads not guilty to the last charges related to Mar-a-Lago raid

Donald Trump pleaded not guilty to the last charges he was indicted on related to confidential documents federal authorities found during the Mar-a-Lago raid a year ago. Aside from the former president and candidate for the 2024 Republican primary, his aide Waltine Nauta, who is facing six charges, also proclaimed his innocence.

On the other hand, Carlos De Oliveira, property manager for Trump's Florida residence and third defendant, also pleaded not guilty. According to a Department of Justice (DOJ) report, De Oliveira obeyed the orders of the former president, who asked him to erase security camera footage showing Mar-a-Lago workers allegedly moving and storing boxes containing the confidential material in question.

Among the charges on which Trump was indicted are charges of intentional withholding of national defense information, conspiracy to obstruct justice and making false statements. Aileen M. Cannon, the judge in charge of the case, set the trial to begin on May 20, 2024, just a few months before the presidential election, in which Trump could be the Republican nominee should he win his party's primary.
