The changes in X (Twitter) continue. Recently, its owner, Elon Musk, announced that the social network of the bird was changing both its logo and its name to X, and now the tycoon has announced a new update. A new feature that will allow it to compete directly with WhatsApp: the social network will soon include the option to make voice and video calls between its users:

According to the tycoon, this option, which does not yet have a release date, will be made available on Apple (iOS) and Android devices as well as Mac and PC platforms. In addition, unlike other services such as WhatsApp, it will not be necessary for the user to have a cell phone number, since it will be linked to the X profile of that specific person. A social network that, according to Tesla's CEO, is "the effective global address book." All this, he explained, creates a "unique set of factors" that allow X to take this new step.

This function, however, is not entirely recent. A couple of weeks ago, the now CEO of X, Linda Yaccarino, said during an interview with NBC, that Musk was already thinking about introducing this option: "Soon you'll be able to make video chat calls without having to give your phone number to anyone on the platform."
