Superman Trailer
The wait is over. The first trailer for James Gunn's Superman movie was released Thursday.
Starring David Corenswet as Superman/Clark Kent and Rachel Brosnahan as Lois Lane, the movie serves as a reboot of the DC cinematic universe, which James Gunn took over as co-CEO and executive director in 2022.
The trailer opens with a scene featuring Krypto, the Man of Steel's sacred superdog. However, it doesn’t give much insight to the plot.
It also hints at the involvement of Lex Luthor (played by Nicholas Hoult) and the appearance of a dragon.
Additionally, the teaser hints at a moment of tension between Superman and the civilian population, when a citizen strikes him in the back of the head with a disposable cup. Themes of love and emotion are also prominently featured.
The trailer seems to live up to critics' expectations:
"Per the teaser released this afternoon, James Gunn’s Superman looks like it might turn out to be the superhero movie we all need. Which is to say: one that ignores the last decade and a half of franchise-building, Easter Egg-planting and multiverse-wrangling, and returns the form to its crowd-pleasing first principles," explains film critic Robbie Collin in his article published in The Telegraph.
