Prior to its release we learned that Sound of Freedom, produced by Angel Studios, was already a success. The film managed to sell more than one million advance tickets, half of the expectations of the people involved in it, according to what one of the producers and actors, Eduardo Verástegui, told Mega TV. The production debuted in theaters on July 4 and, on the same day, it was number one at the box office.

According to the producer, Sound of freedom collected 14,242,063 million dollars in U.S. theaters on July 4, far surpassing the box office of Walt Disney Studios' blockbusters Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny and Elemental or that of Columbia Pictures and Sony Pictures Animation Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse on that day, according to IMDb. Recall that the Angel Studios film had a budget of $15 million.

"Thanks to fans around the country, Sound of Freedom earned the top spot as America’s number one movie on Independence Day. We’ve received numerous messages telling us theaters are either packed or sold out. This movie has now taken on a life of its own to become something more than that, a grassroots movement" said Neal Harmon, CEO of Angel Studios. "With an A+ CinemaScore rating, we’re the top-rated movie in America, and we’re going to see word-of-mouth spread even further going into the weekend. The world needs to see Sound of Freedom, and we know that our biggest competitive advantage—our incredible fans and investors—are going to make sure that happens."

Sound of Freedom tells the story of Tim Ballard, a federal agent who quit his job to rescue children from sex traffickers. Starring actor Jim Caviezel (starring, among others, in such hits as The Passion of the Christ), the film uncovers one of the major problems facing the planet: child trafficking and pedophilia.
