The new DC production, directed by James Gunn, already has stars. In Superman: Legacy, David Corenswet will play Superman and Rachel Brosnahan will play Lois Lane. Warner's representatives confirmed this Tuesday to the media.

The director of the feature film also confirmed this via a message on Twitter. James Gunn further described Corenswet and Brosnahan as two "incredible actors" and "wonderful people."

This will be Corenswet's first major role at the center of a major production and franchise. The actor previously appeared in the Netlfix series The Politician, in addition to some other supporting roles for platforms and big screen. Brosnahan starred until this May in the Amazon Prime production The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel for which she won an Emmy Award.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, and confirmed by James Gunn, Corenswet and Brosnahan were among a group of six actors, from which they ultimately stood out. Still to be found is the actor to play Superman's sworn enemy, billionaire villain Lex Luthor. The film is scheduled to hit screens in July 2025.

James Gunn intends to revitalize the Superman brand and the DC franchise, which did not perform very well with its latest productions. Gunn's commitment to DC is total, as the filmmaker was named co-CEO of the production company. Despite having participated in several Marvel productions, Gunn has already worked with DC to produce Peacemaker, Shazam, Black Adam and Suicide Squad.
