The 500 richest people on the planet added $852 billion in wealth
Elon Musk remains the wealthiest man with a net worth of $244 billion, according to Bloomberg.
The richest people on the planet are getting richer. According to the Bloomberg Billionaires Index, which is updated every day, the 500 wealthiest people in the world have added $852 billion more to their total net worth so far in 2023. In other words, each of them added an average of $14 million per day.
On June 9, Twitter owner and Tesla and SpaceX CEO Elon Musk overtook Louis Vuitton CEO Bernard Arnault as the world's richest man, which he has maintained to this day. The South African entrepreneur has a net worth of $244 billion.
In second place is the aforementioned Bernard Arnault. The French billionaire has $190 billion to his name, adding $27.6 billion since the beginning of this year.
Rounding out the podium is Jeff Bezos. Amazon's CEO added $45.7 billion to his net worth, which now totals $153 billion.

The top 10 of the world's richest people is rounded out by Microsoft co-founder Bill Gates ($134 billion), Oracle co-founder Larry Ellison ($130 billion), Los Angeles Clippers owner Steve Ballmer ($118 billion), investor Warren Buffett ($115 billion), Alphabet Inc. chief executive Larry Page ($110 billion), Meta Platforms CEO Mark Zuckerberg ($106 billion) and Alphabet Inc. chairman Sergey Brin ($104 billion).
The first billionaire that saw a dip in their wealth since the beginning of the year is the world's 18th richest man, Chinese entrepreneur Zhong Shanshan, founder and chairman of the Nongfu Spring beverage company and the majority owner of Beijing Wantai Biological Pharmacy Enterprise. He has a wealth of $62.6 billion, $5 billion less than at the start of 2023. However, he remains the richest man in China.
