Beryl makes landfall as a category 5 hurricane

Much of the southeast Caribbean went on alert Saturday as Tropical Storm Beryl was set to undergo rapid strengthening, becoming a "dangerous" major hurricane before it crosses the Windward Islands sometimes on June 30, forecasters said.
Barbados, St Lucia, St Vincent and the Grenadines and Grenada all had hurricane watches in place, the US National Hurricane Center said, as Beryl swirled in the Atlantic.
